Welcome to Solace City, a place where heroes are born, but legends are made.  This will be a play by post game where everyone involved is both a player and a GM.  The idea is to control both your chosen heroes and villains in order to not only achieve personal goals and pursue intricate subplots, but to create a overarching story including and interacting with the other players/GMs on the board.  This is an experiment, and as such, we will be playing fast and loose with rules at the beginning until we all land upon something that we agree works best.  Right now, here at the few things to keep in mind while you play/post.

1. Be respectful.

2. PG-13 language and situations.

3. No power gaming/posting.

4. You may not control another person's characters.  You may attack/interact with them, but you may not control their response/reaction to what you do.

5. No spamming the board, please let other posters have the chance to interact with the story.

6. Each player will control 2 original heroes and 2 original villains.  Please let all of us know in an initial post any basic and pertinent information about your characters that will help move the story along.  It is important to tell everyone up front what powers and skills each character has as it will prevent any confusion later on in the story.

7. Have fun!

Below is a sample post using what I feel would be the best style for what we are trying to do here.  This is just a sample:

Outside an abandoned warehouse <-Denotes Location

*NightHawk looks down upon the back alley, his eyes focusing on a few hoods playing craps and talking shop* <-Denotes Action

“Yeah man, I heard that NightHawk dude tore Tommy a new one.” <-Denotes Dialogue

“Oh yeah?  That's a shame man, looks like I'm gonna have to pay his girl a visit and comfort her!”

*the hoods continue to throw the dice and exchange money*

These men are the vermin that infest my city – they musy be stopped! <-Denotes Internal Monologue

*NightHawk launches himself from his vantage point and into the air, his cape billowing behind him like a pair of great leather wings.  As he drops amongst the stunned hoods, he growls*

“Time to pay the piper, you wastes of space!

*NightHawk lashes out with a fist and strikes the first thug in the collarbone, a sharp crack resonating in the empty alley.  The other thugs take a few steps back*

Remember, this is just a sample and is not the be all, end all format.  We can do whatever we have to do to make this work.  The important thing is that we all have fun while telling a great comic book-style superhero story.

We will be using the DC Heroes RPG – 3rd Edition rules with the honor system, only making rolls for important skill checks and combat. Once the rolls are made, you will need to write that information into the post.  The format that will be used to add the skill/combat check information into each post should look like this:

10/10 – 8/8
11 – 4

The top numbers represent the AV/EV – OV/RV, while the bottom numbers represent the roll you make and the RAPs.

Each player may use as many home-brew characters as they wish, generating each using 1350 Hero Points.  All characters must be listed with background beforehand and approved by the all other players before you can post.
