What are your top five favorite comic series of all time?  It's getting to the point where I am actually looking for new things to read.  Perhaps one of your picks will be that new book I am looking for…

My List (in no particular order):

1. Doom Patrol by Grant Morrison and Richard Case

2. Watchmen by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons

3. Astro City by Kurt Busiek and Brent Anderson

4. Sleeper by Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips

5. Warren Ellis' run on Stormwatch/The Authority

I have many more.  If you're interested just ask.  I can talk comics for hours.

Since I'm relatively new to comics, the ones I have enjoyed the most so far are (in no particular order):

  • Ex Machina
  • Y: The Last Man
  • Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic
  • Watchmen
  • The Sandman
  • The Ultimates
  • Runaways
  • Bone
  • Fables

I'd love to borrow some good superhero comics from your collection sometime.

There’s a feat for that…

Oh man… seriously.  You name it, I may just have it.  I'll try to put some trades together for you and bring them with me Friday to Game Night.  It may just be a long box…Laughing

Oh, and here's five more series I thought of:

6. JLA by Grant Morrison and Howard Porter

7. Aztek-the Ultimate Man by Grant Morrison and Mark Millar

8. Action Philosophers by Fred Van Lente and Ryan Dunlavey

9. All-Star Superman by Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely

10. Animal Man by Grant Morrison and Chas Truog

If it isn't obvious already, I am a major Morrison fanboy.Tongue out

I really am enjoying the comics you let me borrow.

Fray was good. WE3 was alright. The Sword was fantastic. And I'm really enjoying Stormwatch so far.

I'll definately be checking more out from the Comic Archives of Bucky ;-)

And for my Wednesday (New Comic Day!) Edition of Top Comics… the Double & a Half-Sized All-Valiant Issue!  Granted, these comics listed below are personal favorites.  However, it needs to be said that Valiant had a great collection of titles that are worth seeking out.  Even after they were purchased by Acclaim (yes, that Acclaim) and rebooted all of their core titles, the resulting comics were almost as good as the originals.  At least in my humble opinion.

16. X-O Manowar (Conan in an Iron Man-style armor)

17. Shadowman (Jazz musician turned night stalking vigilante)

18. Solar: Man of the Atom (What would you do with godlike power?)

19. Archer & Armstrong (Best buddy comic… ever!)

20. The Second Life of Doctor Mirage (A ghost story about the power of love)

21. Ninjak (Hello!  Storm Shadow meets James Bond)

22. Turok: Dinosaur Hunter (Way better than the video games)

23. Eternal Warrior (Think Highlander meets globe-trotting vigilante)

24. Magnus: Robot Fighter (Future ruled by Robots, man fights them with bare fists!)

25. Rai (An Asian spin on Magnus, starring a hero with nanite-infused blood)

26. Bloodshot (The angry Punisher-style modern day Rai)

27. Harbinger (Super-powered teens take on the man known as Harada)

28. Secret Weapons (Team book starring the majority of the above characters)

29. Quantum & Woody (Second best buddy book… ever!)

30. Armed and Dangerous (Very under-appreciated Sin City-style noir book)

Bucky,

This is perfect for an actual blog post. Would you be interested in posting this weekly on the blog?
If so, do you know how to get into the admin? I'll walk you through it if you need help.

Thanks.

Just wanted to pass along a little note.  After beginning to reread the four volumes that compose it, I feel that Grant Morrison's Seven Soldiers epic should be listed here as well.  Go find it, read it, and then read it again.  It's worth it.

I thought I was the only major fanboy of Grant Morrison in the area!  What about Seaguy?  It is one of my favorites (along with the invisibles) and I am excited for the sequel to seaguy.  So let's make this a morrison fanboy/also comics thread.

I liked Seaguy, but I really think Morrison is the only one who really knows what that book was about!  Laughing  As for the Invisibles, I read the books when they came out originally, but have been waiting until the annual Christmas sale at A & F to pick up the trades as well as Anarchy for the Masses to use as a reading guide with the comics.  I too am excited about the Seaguy sequel.
