I went to my local LGS last night (the Dragons Refuge) and there sitting on the shelf was a copy of PHB 3. It seems because Marty does so many WOTC events he was able to get 2 copies. They are gone or I would have gotten more.
The book had everything in it I would have expected: 4 Races: Wilden, Gith, Miniotuar, Shardsomething or other (they have boobs it is just wrong), and 6 classes: the four psionic, seeker, and rune priest. Plus the Hybrid. Skill Powers, new feats, Magic items. Etc… To be honest I am somewhat dissapointed. Everything we got in this book has been in character builder for some time (save for the new feats and rune priest).
What this book does have going for it that the previous 2 had was a full apendix of terms, keywords for powers and general explanation of how some effects work and stack. Those 10 plus pages made this book shine. I am not going to extensivly cover the new classes, but the Rune Priest is a divine leader(Str, Wis, and Con). He is about as armored as your standard fighter (he can use scale and shields) and all of his powers are melee based. Like all leaders he can dole out heals. These are not as powerful as other leaders as in the early levels it is just a surge. However the kickers the guy give out when he heals is awesome. He either gives out a +1 to all defenses or bonus to damage. Many of his powers are bulit on doling out damage, you hit or miss him and you are going to be taking extra damage when he hits. The seeker I kind want to play as one of the builds is all about thrown weapons. There are some nifty effects and the one given in the book seems more fun and flavorful than what we were given in the CB.
The skill powers…eh we all have seen them, nothing more. The new feats I have yet to look at, but I am thinking they will be cool. I think had we not already known 90% of the stuff in this book it would seem cooler, I compare it to X-mas morning, but you know most of what you are already getting.
